Burke Mountain welcomes Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country to provide adaptive skiing and snowboarding to athletes with disabilities.
Burke, VT: Adaptive Sports Partners of the North Country (ASPNC) is excited to announce the expansion of their adaptive sports programs with their newest partner, Burke Mountain. ASPNC is extremely excited to bring adaptive sports to the Northeast Kingdom community, ensuring that everyone, regardless of disability, has access, equipment, and instruction within sport and recreation. ASPNC provides year round sport, recreation and wellness to people of all disabilities including those with physical, mental health, developmental, and emotional/behavioral disabilities.
Executive Director, Kelly Walsh, states that, “this expansion supports a community that has previously not had access to the beautiful area they live in. Our partnership at Cannon Mountain is so strong, and we see how many athletes we are able to get out on the mountain each year, experiencing the joy of skiing and developing so many skills. We thought Burke Mountain is such a wonderful mountain, and the Northeast Kingdom needs a truly supportive adaptive program in the area. We are beyond excited for this!”.
ASPNC started in 2009, as a community-based, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization with the mission to enrich the quality of life for people with disabilities through year round sport recreation and wellness. ASPNC accomplishes this through the provision of year-round opportunities for sport, recreation, and wellness throughout the Franconia area, North Country of New Hampshire, and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
ASPNC provides trained instructors, adaptive equipment, and scholarship opportunities for all athletes. Please spread the word about this new partnership and encourage everyone to get out on the mountain.
We are also always in need of volunteers. If you love to be outdoors and want to share your love for sport and recreation reach out to Kelly Walsh at kelly@adaptivesportspartners.org.
